Gareth Edwards will be remembered for his successful Rugby career. He was the Wales Rugby Union captain and scored what is regarded as the greatest try ever whilst playing for the Barbarians against the All Blacks in 1973 at Cardiff Arms Park.
Gareth Edwards took the Monster Pike below from Llandegfedd Reservoir in Pontypool, South Wales, in 1989, The Pike was caught on a salmon spinner and became the British record pike weighing in at a massive 45lb 6oz.
Wyndon Coole below with the Wykeham Monster at an incredible 46 lb 11 oz. This is just 2 oz shy of the Roy Lewis Llandegfedd Reservoir Monster Pike at the top of this page.
Wykeham Lakes in North Yorkshire is our next venue for the UK Monster Pike. The venue near Scarborough is home to the Wykeham Monster, which is a rather huge Pike that has been caught on numerous occasions by various anglers lucky enough to have access to the water. The Monster Pike has pulled the scales down to an incredible 46 lb 11 oz and is now the largest Pike to be caught in English waters. The picture below is the Darren Clark capture of the Wykeham Monster at an amazing 46 lb 8 oz.
John Goble took the Monster Pike below from the River Thurne in March 2008. The Pike is a British record for a river caught Pike and came in at a whopping 45lb 8oz
Monster Pike - UK
Llandegfedd Reservoir in Wales first hit the headlines back in the late 1980s when it opened it's doors (or boats) to the world of Pike fishing. Little would of been known on the first season opening day about what would follow over the coming years. In a short space of time Llandegfedd Reservoir became one of the worlds best Pike fishing venues and consistently threw up monster Pike after monster Pike. Whilst we can't picture them all here, hopefully the British record Pike below of 46lb 13oz taken by Roy Lewis in October 1992 will give an idea on the size of monster that Llandegfedd can throw up
The Ewout Blom monster pike is a magnificent looking beast which ever way you look at it. The picture below perhaps gives a better impression of the girth on this awesome Esox.
Andy O’Connor below caught the Wykeham Monster or Wykeham Whacker as it was also called at an impressive 46 Lbs.
