No page about Monster Pike in Germany is complete without including the Lothar Louis fish below. Lothar broke the official world record with this beast from Greffern Lake in West Germany on October 16, 1986. The record Pike was caught on the good old Pike anglers favorite spoon type lure. Lothar reported that it took him 40 minutes from the time of the take to actually landing the monster. Despite the lack of colour in the photo, there can be no doubting that it is a very special fish.
Monster Pike - Germany
This monster Pike below was caught by successful German angler Bari Latifi. Bari was at the time a Quantum test angler and took this beast on a Quantum Pelagic Shad lure in "Game Over" pattern whilst boat fishing. Bari was fishing on a small German club lake during a strong wind. He started the day fishing from a float tube (Belly Boat) but switched to a bigger boat due to the strong wind. The fish gave a good account of it's self, providing Bari with a 20 minute scrap before he managed to land it.
Measuring 129 cm, specialists estimate the weight of Bari's pike at between 22-25 kg (48-55 Lbs) based on the length and massive circumference.
The monster Pike below was taken by Uwe Schwirten in December 2007 from a German stone quarry at Biggesee. Uwe caught the Pike on a 18 cm Rapala wobbler lure. The Pike weighed in at 52 Lbs (23.8 Kg) and measured 140 cm.
